About the Program

Anger Management is a 12 week program facilitated by professional staff. It is a comprehensive co-ed program designed especially for adolescents ages 13 through 17 whose anger has created unmanageability in their lives, causing problems at home, school, or in the community. Parents/caregivers are involved in the initial orientation meeting and two family sessions. Homework assignments and group activities, including role-play, allow participants to apply newly acquired skills. Program expectations and curiculum may be adapted to meet individual needs. Completion of the requirements of all 12 sessions of the program is necessary for graduation.

What do participants learn?

Candlelight uses a holistic approach to learning, relfected in our Anger Management program by educating the participants in all aspects of anger, including grief and loss. During this program, participants can expect to learn the following:

  • Styles of anger and communication
  • Identifying and dealing with anger triggers and cues
  • Identifying and communicating feelings
  • Thinking patterns that lead to anger
  • Assertive behavior skills
  • Coping skills and relaxation techniques
  • Healthy alternatives to acting out anger
  • Increasing self-esteem and self-control
  • Identifying and practicing conflict resolution skills and concepts

Adolescents in the community my be referred to the program by their county worker, the courts, a parent, school personnel or other source by contacting our Program Manager .
