BOTH ABC and ABC-Too...

... are formal behavioral programs in therapeutic environments.  ABC and ABC-Too provide individual wraparound services for female adolescents.  These family oriented facilities are located in Neenah, WI.  A Better Choice Programs are a division of Candlelight Vision Corp., a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency established in 2001.

...incorporate Behavior Modification.  Programming at ABC and ABC-Too is based upon TruThought curriculum which "supports intensive, progressive change through choices that allow clients to deconstruct irresponsible thinking patterns and reconstruct responsible thinking patterns."  ABC Staff has been individually trained in "Mind Over Matters: The Nation's Number One Corrective Thinking Training."  The principles of this training have been incorporated into our seven level behavioral system.

  • Level One looks for cooperation with and honesty in all assessments, compliance with ABC expectations and a substance and crime free lifestyle.
  • Level Two includes the expectations for level one plus: client begins to share thoughts and feelings and take ownership of attitudes and behaviors.
  • Level Three includes the expectations for the previous levels plus: client is able to identify and share thoughts and feelings appropriately, accept responsibility for negative and positive behaviors, is assertive in communication and is beginning to break unhealthy loyalties and secret keeping behaviors.
  • Level Four includes the expectations of the previous levels plus: clients is able to be a positive role model for peers, recognize and self-regulate unhealthy behavior patterns, exhibit appropriate responses to authority figures.
  • Level Five includes the expectations of the previous levels plus: client shows consistency in demonstrating healthy behaviors and communication skills and can identify and apply deterrents to inappropriate responses.

  • Level Six includes expectations of the previous levels plus: client demonstrates ability to accept responsibility for the consequences of own choices.

  • Level Seven includes expectations of the previous levels plus: client demonstrates behaviors that reflect stability in home, school and community.  Client uses integration of concepts of accountability and responsibility, development of a personal value system and internalization of self-management and self-discipline restraints.
...incorporate Therapeutic Issues.  ABC programs incorporate a system of progressive phases intended to successfully intervene in therapeutic issues...

  • Phase A includes orientation, initial evaluations and assessments, including AODA, psychological, academic, and independent living skills.
  • Phase B begins to address identified issues.
  • Phase C is designed to provide some resolution to entry level dysfunction and some freedom to apply new skills.
  • Phase D transitions the client to home and community.
  • Phase E is a twelve week outpatient aftercare program which includes accountability and support, relapse prevention and family restructuring sessions.

...encompass both a beautifully restored two-story home and a new ranch style home on the CVC campus in a residential neighborhood.  ABC and ABC-Too have community meal times, spacious bedrooms, large yards, and plenty of well-designed living space.

...are two houses utilizing the same programming allowing CVC to intervene in issues that require more attention and provides more flexibility in the therapeutic milieu.

...are committed to lighting the candle instead of cursing the darkness...
